Sunseeker Service Team remove Seakeeper Gyro

The Sunseeker Service Team in Phuket headed by Olly Wingate and Steve Curtis, recently carried out a major job on a Manhattan 63, similar to that of a dentist removing a delicate wisdom tooth.

Seakeeper, who supply gyro stabiliser units from USA, had agreed to replace a faulty unit after 2 years and The Sunseeker Team of engineers were given the task of removing the 500kg unit from under the floor outside the VIP Guest Cabin, out through one of the removed windscreen panels and replaced with a new unit from a waiting truck.

The staff from Royal Phuket Marina were also on hand to assist with their travel lift for the delicate extraction.

Olly and Steve needed to remove part of the lower deck floor, the staircase balustrade, door frames and the port side windscreen in order to safely remove the unit from the Yacht and then restore it to it's former glory with the new unit in location.

"It was the first time any where in the world that a Sunseeker Yacht has had a gyro unit removed and it all went according to plan", explained Craig Murphy Managing Director of Sunseeker Thailand, "the lads did a great job to have the new unit installed in 3 days".

"The new unit is working perfectly and we have another happy and satisfied customer.  Having great service back up is essential to our industry, and this is what we pride our selves on here at Max Marine Asia".
