Sunseeker 28 Metre Yacht

February 08, 2012 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

Sunseeker’s New 28m made its world debut at the 2012 Tullett Prebon Boat Show earlier this month. The yacht is a new design launch of the next generation of the “Sunseeker” Yacht Look. The element most captivating is the remarkable extent of the main deck glazing. Unusually full height and pillariess, the glazing flows continuous down the sides and around the rear of the saloon, merging with the patio doors.

The new wrap around glazing gives the main deck accommodation a unique uninterrupted floor ceiling, panoramic view and an extraordinary bright interior, bringing the outside in.

Reaching new heights in the design and use of ultra modern materials has given rise to this extraordinary motor yacht. With its revolutionary use of space, incorporating full height and wrap around glazing, the vast saloon will be the centre of this masterpiece. With a range of cabin plans this yacht allows for adaptation to suit client needs but will always deliver the expected Sunseeker “wind in the hair” performance.

New Images of the New Sunseeker Manhattan 53

August 23, 2011 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

The all new Sunseeker 53 Manhattan model will be launched at the 2011 Southampton Boatshow in September and Sunseeker Thailand will be there.  The first photographs have now been released by the factory prior to the show.

The launch of this elegant and stylish new flybridge yacht has been eagerly anticipated by distributors and buyers alike throughout the world.  Indeed, Sunseeker Thailand has two confirmed orders which will be arriving in Phuket either side of Christmas.

Both inside and out the Manhattan 53 has far more space than its predecessor and has a stunning new flybridge layout.  In addition, with its well proportioned beam, she offers three generous cabins below, with a huge beam to beam owner’s stateroom.

In addition, the stepped saloon and helm position offer excellent, panoramic views with relaxed, spacious entertaining areas.

The Manhattan 53 may now be the smallest Sunseeker in the Flybridge production line, but she is no less a performer or provider of that.

Anyone wishing to view the Manhattan 53 at the Southampton Boatshow, please contact; Craig Murphy, MD, Sunseeker Thailand,

Two Sunseeker Manhattan 63s on a Sunday Cruise

August 13, 2011 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

Sunseeker Thailand’s Iain Davie enjoyed an amazing day as two of Sunseeker Thailand’s newest boats, both Sunseeker Manhattan 63’s, joined together for a cruise last Sunday.

The sight of two brand new Sunseeker Manhattan 63’s cruising gently south in formation drew a fair few glances from the local fishermen and yacht owners alike. Dropping anchor off one of the many tropical islands had the crews busy launching the tenders and of course, the water toys. It was not long before we were all splashing around between the Sunseeker yachts, the islands beach and yes, the many toys.

Lunch was served on one boat, leaving the other free for the crews to relax in peace and quiet, until it was decided that afternoon drinks would be better served after a quick blast North. Up came the anchors and off we went. Now, if the sight of two Sunseeker Manhattan 63’s cruising south in majestic formation caught the eye, the 32 knot, side by side, blast North caused more than a few heads to turn.

Arrival off a deserted island in the beautiful Phang Nga Bay led the two owners to decide that rafting the two 70 foot Sunseeker Manhattan’s together would, in effect, combine drinks fridge capacity which offered a greater quantity and selection of beverages to their guests. Rafting two identical Sunseeker Yachts together allowed perfect alignment of both hydraulic swimming platforms making it easy to transverse between fridges, keeping the aft decks busy and allowing the crews to compare notes at the bow.

Heading back to Ao Po Marina as the sun set was just the most perfect end to a great day with both Sunseeker Manhattan 63’s entering the Marina and tying up just before dark.

Max Marine Asia check out new boat lift-out facility

August 13, 2011 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

Max-Marine Asia recently tested out the new Roodberg boat lift trailer which is available at Ao Po Grand Marina in Phuket.

The owner of a new 8 metre Aus Thai Marine Catamaran required an engine service, and in just 35 minutes the boat was lifted out of the water, both outboard engines were serviced and the boat was returned back into the water without a problem.

Paul Stamp, from Max-Marine Asia said “the Roodberg trailer is perfect when there is no travel lift facility.  The Marina Manager, Derek Van Deventer and his staff offer a very quick and efficient service for surveys and engine servicing.”

“Max-Marine Asia and Sunseeker Thailand have used the Roodberg to lift out much bigger boats than this one too.  It took out a Sunseeker Portofino 47 easily too recently, and as can be seen by the full new hard stand area, the Roodberg lift trailer is lifting some very large power boats and sail boats.”

Hopefully many more Max-Marine Asia clients with their boats in Ao Po Grand Marina will take advantage of this great piece of equipment.

New Austhai Boomerang 8000 FunCat-Owners comments

July 19, 2011 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

Having handed over the new Austhai Marine 8m Funcat recently to its owner Stuart Orr, the boat has been put through its paces in Phang Nga Bay over the last 10 days, by Stuart and his family and friends.

Stuart has owned numerous boats previously in Thailand, however he is extremely happy having made his latest buy.

“The boat is great”, Stuart said, “It’s the best boat I’ve had to date!”

“Yesterday, we had 10 adults on board with two teenagers and two younger kids, and the boat handled superbly; cruising at 25 knots without a problem.”

The Austhai Boomerang 8000 Funcat, sold in Phuket by Max-Marine Asia, has a top speed of 40 knots with its twin Suzuki 175hp engines.

Stuart added, “The handling of the boat is sensational.  My previous boats just could not handle the sea conditions here in Phuket; you had to slow down!   My new boat just cuts through the choppy waters at speed; it’s great!”

Boat sales continue through 2011 for Max-Marine Asia in Phuket.  The latest arrival is the Austhai Marine 8000 Boomerang Cat.

Built in Pattaya, this open Catamaran sits 12 people and includes on-board electric toilet and cooking facilities at a kitchen station.

It is powered by twin Suzuki 175hp outboards and has a top speed of 40 knots.  It also has a great range as it is fitted with 2 x 300 litre fuel tanks.

Max Marine appoints Tawan Cruises

April 21, 2011 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

PHUKET’s role as boating capital of the Asian Riviera is being further enhanced by the partnership of two of the island’s most respected and successful companies.

Tawan Cruises Limited has been awarded the contract to manage the ever-growing fleet of Sunseekers in Phuket, distributed exclusively by Max Marine Asia Ltd. “Motor yacht cruising in Phuket is better than anything in the Mediterranean,” said Max Marine’s Iain Davie, who had eight years experience working for Sunseeker in the European yacht haven.

“People are far more confident about having their boats here now with our efficient infrastructure and this partnership with Tawan Cruises takes it that step further.” Sunseeker currently have 18 boats in the Thailand fleet, including the 40m super yacht, and he revealed there would be at least another 6 motor yachts by the end of the year, with at least four owners wanting full yacht management.

“Why shouldn’t the guy spending £2million have the same service as the owners expect of a £12million super yacht?” declared Craig Murphy, MD of Max Marine.  He explained the service was aimed to give owners peace of mind but also protect the capital value of their boats so technical maintenance will be carried out by Sunseeker, with Tawan Cruises’ management programme done under its supervision.

“We recognize that Tawan Cruises is professional in the management of its boats, whether they are 30 feet or 30 meters. It has established resources and we are plugging into its experience,” said Craig. “It is a partnership made in heaven!” Tawan Cruises and Max Marine would offer various comprehensive management programmes and the service could include everything from airport transfers, providing staff and all provisions on board, to dealing with administration and operation issues. A helpline will be developed for any problems ranging from cultural issues to boat maintenance.

Tony Henthorne, of Tawan Cruises said the partnership added credibility to the marine market and that Phuket was a solid base in which to keep a boat. “It’s a very strong development that owners can rest assured their yacht is being properly looked after and that, for a boat owner, is extremely satisfying,” he added. “This relationship places us firmly in the upper echelons of the boating industry in South East Asia".

He revealed the partnership would also be creating employment in all aspects of the boating industry in the technical, management and administration fields. Phuket’s reputation as a boating mecca is being increasingly recognized worldwide. Iain explained that world-class facilities, easy accessibility to the island, cheaper costs and an extensive growth of infrastructure with a skilled English-proficient workforce has attracted many boat owners contributing to a growing market.

Describing the cruising from Phuket as “awesome”, he added: “The Med struggles for space so you’re always looking for somewhere quiet to get that picture postcard moment.  When you’re cruising in waters around Phuket, you get that moment every 15 minutes!”

Please also see the recent article in the Phuket Gazette which is an interesting endorsement of the view that Phuket’s high-end marine industry is forecast for continued growth:

Another Sunseeker 63 Manhattan arrives in Phuket

The second Sunseeker 63 Manhattan of 2011 arrived in Phuket this week from the UK.

MAIA was delivered to Port Klang in Malaysia where Iain Davie, Service & Sales Manager for Sunseeker Thailand and her Captain, met her for the Pre-Delivery Inspection and commissioning.

Following a successful ‘shakedown’ the boat set sail for Phuket via Langkawi, where MAIA then had a longer than expected stopover, due to the Tropical Depression which hit Southern Thailand and Malaysia over the past week.

The Flybridge Motor Yacht did however set sail 3 days later in the still testing waters, however she came through the challenging sea-trial with flying colours.

“We headed into the back edge of the weather system coming north with almost 2m seas and she handled it extremely well.  She has certainly had a baptism of fire!” said Iain.

“On board, she is wonderfully appointed with an extensive multi-zone ‘Fusion’ sound system, I Pod docking stations, flat screen TV’s throughout with a drop-down 55’ TV in the saloon.”

“Additionally MAIA is equipped with number of chilled drinks cabinets and high output ice making facilities making her a great boat for entertaining, which is what the owner wanted!”

“I am sure he will like what he sees!”

Max Marine Asia hand over another Stingray Rib

Another Stingray RIB (rigid inflatable boat) from South Africa was handed over to its new owner Craig Hodson from Krabi this month by Max Marine Asia in Phuket.

Since recently becoming Thailand’s dealer of this brand of Hypalon RIB, Max Marine Asia have sold no fewer than seven RIB’s in the four months since December 2010.

Craig Murphy, Managing Director at Max Marine Asia said, “We have been very impressed by the performance of the Stingray hulls, especially on the bigger boats upto 7.5m, and in the rougher seas we have been experiencing this high season in Thailand!”

“We (Max Marine Asia and Sunseeker Thailand) are using the 6.2m Searaider model as our chase boat for clients, which has a Suzuki DF175 outboard engine.  It performs extremely well with speeds in excess of 42knots.”

“In choosing a new RIB brand, we considered not only value for money, but also strength, build design, hull shape and of course performance.”

Paul Stamp, Sales Executive at Max Marine Asia is seen here handing over and sea trialing a new 5.8m Stingray Searaider RIB to owner Craig Hodson, at Ao Po Grand Marina.

Asia's first Sunseeker Manhattan 63...

A tour of Krabi and Phang Nga Bay onboard Asia’s first Sunseeker Manhattan 63.

Whilst once again holidaying in Phuket, Iris Stamp from Sunderland, in England, was in for a nice birthday surprise when she was treated by her sons; Paul and Gary to a tour around the islands of Krabi and Phang Nga, on Asia’s first Sunseeker Manhattan 63 Flybridge Motor Yacht.

The owner, Stephen Hopcroft, invited Paul, Sales Executive at Sunseeker Thailand, and his family to take his new Sunseeker Manhattan 63 for an extended sea-trial following delivery from the UK earlier this year.

“Having completed the sale of this new model ‘off-plan,’ it’s been great actually seeing the boat and taking her for a spin” said Paul. “Having many of my family members here in Phuket to enjoy the day out with me too was just fantastic!”

Phuket Marine industry on the up

November 30, 1999 0 Comments Blog by Administrator

Over the years, the Phuket Marine industry has grown to one of the biggest in not only the country but also the region.  With some of the best waters in all of Asia, the Phuket Marine industry is destined to continue to grow.  Direct links from Phuket to nearby islands such as Kho Phi Phi and Kho Yai make day boating easy and enjoyable.

The range of boats available also continues to grow with brands such as Sunseeker and Bayliner commonplace. First class maintenance through expat skilled workers helps to keep the Phuket Marine industry running well.

Access to nearby islands also gives boaters the opportunity to view some of Phuket Marine’s wildlife first hand.  Birds such as Sea Eagles and gulls can be regularly seen while a trip below the surface offers a huge array of sea life such as sharks, manta’s and even whale sharks.

With 2 distinct seasons throughout the year (rainy and dry seasons) there are distinct advantages to boating at the right time of year.  During the rainy season (May-October) the south-west monsoon hits the west coast of Phuket with rough waters and stormy skies.  It is thoroughly recommended for those interested in a Phuket marine adventure to schedule their trip in the dry where crystal clear waters are the norm.
